Maintenance Update: Subscriptions to Comments Lost

I just switched web servers and it seems everything got transfered over alright except for anyone who had subscribed to receive notifications when new comments were left on specific articles. I’m afraid if you’d like to receive comments notifications, you’ll have to go back to the article you’re interested in and resubscribe.

Since there is currently no option to subscribe without leaving a comment, you can just leave a comment that says “delete me” and I’ll go in and take it out. But you’ll still be subscribed to that article’s comments feed.

Again, sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

  1. Any chance you can switch to full RSS feeds. SEO and revenue studies have shown it improves readership rates and income (if you are interested in that), and many top bloggers feel it’s an important part of a top quality blog.

For me, sometimes (couple weeks out of the month) sites just don’t load (from Harbin, China), but RSS feeds do. They’ve just got too many routers on a small backbone, and no long distance routes, IMO.

  2. stephan,

I would love to but I’m afraid I don’t know enough about RSS to do that. Can you tell me what to do to make the switch? Are you talking about the emails that go out or in some RSS reader (like MyYahoo)? I’ve added the RSS info to the sidebar (on the bottom). Do those help…?
